Volunteer GAL Program

Forgotten Children Group

Berkeley County

96 Berkeley County volunteers served as advocates for 412 abused or neglected children in 2008.

Our volunteers stand up for abused children and serve as their voice in the Family Court system.

Next training session starts:
March 10, 2010.

The Guardian ad Litem Program encourages men and women of all ages, races, education levels and backgrounds to volunteer.

No special skills are needed, just compassion, caring and common sense. You must have a sincere desire to help children, and be willing to make a commitment of 4-6 hours per month. You will be required to pass background and reference checks.

You will then complete the free, 30 hour training program.
Learn more about the training program.

Once you have been accepted into the program as a trained volunteer, we will ask that you accept at least one case, and stay with that child until their case is closed.

See how you can make a difference for an abused child.
